My Life As A Hunter

My Introduction To Hunting

I was introduced into the hunting world when my dad had gotten a Utah Mule Deer tag. We went up one morning and we had seen a lot of good bucks, but not the one we were after. The morning hunt ended and we headed home to prepare for the evening hunt. We get up on a ridge and glassed the valley beneath us. We decided to move down the road to the bottom of the valley to look up on the hillside across the ridge. We spotted a buck worth shooting. And my dad got set up on the shooting sticks. We ranged the buck at 230 yards. My dad hadn’t shot a deer in over 15 years. As he squeezed the trigger he jerked it a little and missed the first shot. The buck started running downhill to the left. My dad quickly got back on him and shot him perfectly in the shoulder and dropped him on the run. The excitement on my face when we walked up on the buck was something I will never forget. I was hooked.
